Fundamentals of Swallowing & Phases: Typical vs. Atypical Swallow, and the Oral, Pharyngeal, and Esophageal Phases.
Pathophysiology of Atypical Swallowing & Aspiration/Recurrent Pneumonia: Causes of atypical swallow and clinical implications.
Dysphagia Type, Severity, & Feeding Criteria: Clinical judging of dysphagia type and severity, and criteria for oral or tube feeding (When to recommend oral feeding, non-oral supplements, or NPO?).
Assessment of Swallowing Disorders & Videofluoroscopy/FEES Availability: Assessment methods and handling cases when videofluoroscopy/FEES is unavailable.
Dysphagia Management: Behavioral & Medical: Rehabilitative, compensatory, and compensatory-rehabilitative treatments, along with medical management.
Problem Solving, Clinical Case Discussion & Documentation: Clinical case discussions, problem-solving, and report writing.
Case Studies: Practical applications and examples.
